"Good" cholesterol helps men live longer

Having high levels of HDL or "good" cholesterol can help achieve the 85 birthday men, requires a new investigation.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the American Heart Association HDL cholesterol cholesterol helps remove extra arteries, cardiovascular disease; risk reduction, contrary to the LDL or "bad" cholesterol clogs arteries and heart diseases, heart and stroke increases the risk.

The researchers found, men with higher HDL had 28% more likely to turn 85 (i.e. 28% less likely to die), as compared to the men of lower HDL.

Published in the American Journal of Cardiology, researchers analyzed the health information 65 650 Veterans ' age group, and then place them in their HDL, on the basis of the level. The researchers found that men with low HDL were less likely to live in 14% of the 85 years; 375 research, participants, 85, survived.

In addition, the data showed that fewer men with higher HDL cholesterol were overweight, drank too much alcohol (up to 2 drinks a day), smoked or had cardiovascular diseases.

The researchers point out, however, difficult to raise HDL levels, saying that the drug needs to eventually be developed.

But some diet experts in the section of the food , such as avocados, lentils, Peas, soya, oatmeal and Niacin-containing foods such as tomatoes, chicken breast and mushrooms contribute to HDL-cholesterol. Naicin (vitamin B3) to help block the production of cholesterol in the text.

Heart disease is the cause death globally. In 2004, the World Health Organisation says, 1.7 million people died of heart diseases, such as line (5.7 million) and coronary artery disease (7.2 million).
